Web design in Bocholt, between the industrial park and the border
Bocholt is 21 kilometres from our desk. That makes meetings easy, but it is not an argument. What counts here are pages that technical buyers and applicants can find, and that take account of a Dutch border ten minutes away.
Bocholt has already lived through a break of this magnitude once. Between 1870 and the First World War the town counted up to 80 textile firms employing as many as 10,000 people; from the mid-1960s the sector collapsed under competition from the Far East. What carries the town today is metalwork, machinery, automotive supply and logistics. Lecturing anyone here about digital transformation means talking to people who have seen a real structural break at first hand.
The industrial park in the south-west is, at 360 hectares, the largest contiguous one in North Rhine-Westphalia: around 380 companies and some 7,000 employees. Most of them sell to purchasing departments, not to consumers. For those websites the home page is rarely the most important one. What decides things is solid product data, certificates, and a careers page that gives a graduate of the local Westphalian University of Applied Sciences a reason to stay in Bocholt rather than move to the Ruhr.
After Aachen, Bocholt is the second-largest German town on the Dutch border, and in the Suderwick district the state border runs down the middle of a village street: the carriageway and northern pavement lie in the Netherlands, the southern pavement in Germany. Traffic across that border flows mainly inward here, to shop and to see a doctor. For a local business that means something different than in a commuter town: your Dutch customer is not looking for a supplier in their own language, but for a reason to drive the ten minutes.

Borken to Bocholt is 21 kilometres, a good twenty minutes on the B67. An on-site meeting is therefore not an expense we need to negotiate. It still does not make the website better, only the coordination quicker.
What makes the difference here
Metalwork and machinery
The core of the industrial park: special-purpose machines, tooling, supplied parts. The visitor is a technical buyer who wants to know within three minutes whether you can make their part. Image copy costs them time they do not have.
B2B Websites for Manufacturing 2026 - Specs Over SentimentLogistics
Ten kilometres to the A3 and an open border make Bocholt a transhipment point. Hauliers here compete less for freight than for drivers, which turns the careers page into the real sales page.

The town centre lives to a noticeable degree on Dutch customers. A Bocholt retailer's competitor is therefore rarely the shop next door, but the online shop the same customer opens that evening from Aalten.
